New Arrivals & Returning Friends

This journal will feature the works, both written and visual, and thoughts of JINX.

As of now all my stories and art will be posted to this journal and this journal only rather then my old one for several reasons. The vast majority of the posts in this journal will be locked for friends only.

If you would like access to these posts please reply to this post (they'll be screened so no worries anyone will see your post except for myself) and please leave your name, age (I am *NOT* going to friend anyone under 18 years of age for this journal but you're welcome to join my public one listed above.) and why you'd like to be friended.

This journal is for FRIENDS and that means that if you want to come in and BE a friend than I'm going to welcome you. All I ask is that you respect the fellow posters here and MY WORK. That means that if you'd like to use any of my art, story ideas, or assorted other sundry items you'll find here, for your own projects please ASK ME FIRST.  I'm usually pretty easy going about that and will say yes if someone asks to use something.

**PLEASE BE AWARE THAT MY PERMISSION EXTENDS ONLY TO ****PERSONAL**** USE. If you want to use anything here for public downloads (Winamp skins, AIM Expressions, Wallpapers, (that will be offered to the public on your site) or other 'public-access media') please ask me about that specifically.

I do offer some of my transparancies and backgrounds to select friends that request them for their own artist efforts but I have to really know and trust you first before I'll say yes and it's rarer still that I give 'Carte Blanche' access to the art, ideas, ect. contained in my journal. At this time only three people have 'Carte Blanche' to art here and you know who you are so everyone else just ask on a case by case basis unless my post for that art says differently.

On a personal note: My work tends to be rather unusual by some standards for a Slash-Centric writer (I write in the Whedonverse and Stargate fandoms predominately) or so I've been told. I don't really do 'graphic' stories in that you shouldn't expect them to be like the sex-filled plotless tales that seem ro predominate a lot of these genres. My work is for mature readers that like to think and use their imaginations to fill in some of the 'juicier' aspects. They deal mostly with relationships and they tend to be quite long and involved. (The shortest story I've ever written was about 8 pages long) If you're looking for a mindless orgy of sexual exploits, you're not going to find it in my work, sorry. I always try to craft a well-thought out and constructed storyverse that will allow you to 'enter' the story and gives you the ability to see it in your mind and that allows you to take them wherever *YOUR* particular imagination takes *YOU*.

Thank you for taking the time to read this semi-rant lol. If I haven't scared you off or you're just *that* brave then just reply to this message and leave your name, age, email, LJ user name, and a little about why you'd like to be friended and I'll get back to you probably within minutes.

A SPECIAL NOTE FOR ANONYMOUS USERS (Those without a GreatJournal): I'm sorry to say that I can only friend people that have a Journal as it's impossible to friend an anonymous user. I'm really sorry about that but given the trouble I've had with people using my work in unauthorized ways I felt this was a necessary action on my part. Getting a journal of your own is really easy and it's FREE so if you get one you can be friended and access this journal or its GreatJournal twin. If you choose not to do so, please post again with your email address and I'll do my best to reply to you by email about new entries, projects, and downloads such as soundtracks available here. I'm really sorry that this is necessary but I feel that it is and I'll understand if it's too much trouble for you to go to. I'll do my very best to still accomidate anonymous users as best that I can.

~JINXI~

Ok which link? I've posted a couple over the last couple days. Still trying to clear out the packing dust and getting things squared away here as well so may well be things pointing to something that was moved. If I know which it was I'll have a look at the link. =)

Gotcha! Yes, I'll keep mine for people that are staying but for obvious reasons, my work, art, ect. will be posting here from now on. I don't want to wake up one morning and find out my LJ is gone and I've been labeled a deviant for writing what I do sigh. I think I'd just rather have it somewhere else at this stage.

I am glad that you've come along with me. Welcome =)

Re: Hi
[info]jinxeffect

Hi!

I was also sad to see that happening. On one hand I understood in the case of some groups that were removed but what worried me is that they were continuing the crusade beyond the scope of what they supposedly wanted to accomplish by doing it. A lot of consenting adults; who just happened to choose to write/read Harry Potter or Sam/Dean Supernatural stories were targeted as well. Personally I'm not involved in either community as a writer or a reader but I don't feel it's my place to tell other adults that they can't be either. A lot of innocent people have been hurt or unfairly labeled and that just isn't right.

So far the fandoms that I write in are mostly unaffected for now. By in light of the statement the LJ management released sadness turned to disgust. It clears leaves the impression that at any time their eye could turn to other fandoms to censor them too should they be "offensive" to some segment of the population. My problem with that is that offensive means something different to everyone. there are people who are going to take offense whenever you do anything contrary to what they believe you should do.

The mere idea that their 'watch dogs' could next find fanfiction as a whole offensive for subverting young impressionable minds was just unacceptable.

I write, people choose to read it, and I take what I feel are reasonable steps to keep underage readers out by posting the appropriate warnings. If they CHOOSE to click, and we have to face that they're not friended by accident as that would be impossible since they have to reply here. (Unless of course they somehow 'tripped' and managed to type out a statement here lol.)

I respect the rights of parents and adults to protect children but there's a much simpler way to do that than attacking people. WATCH THEM WHEN THEY'RE ONLINE. I do with my own children, as well as employ the appropriate software that prevents them from accessing things they shouldn't be.

However I could be a target simply because I write Slash. They're not going to care that I'm an adult or about the precautions I've taken or the responsibility I'm showing. I want my journal to be a SAFE place. You can't have that if you never know if you're going to wake up one morning to find it gone.

I just couldn't wait around on the off-chance they'd have the sense to research before they point their chiding fingers at people.

And okay wow lol lengthy rant I guess.

All I can say is that I'm glad you came along with me.

You are far from alone =). I expect that the larger groups will make sure that they've got a back-up community over here; if only to reserve the name. People are doing the same with their individual journals. Whether this becomes the new center of the communities will depend on how LJ acts over the coming days.

I've made the move permanent as far as where I'll be posting my work. I can't see the point of posting it to LJ if I could wake up one morning to find that my journal is gone because it 'offended' someone.

I mean honestly, I write Slash and it won't be the first time a group(s) like the one who started this have taken aim at that as well.

Sigh.

Glad you're here though =) and you've got your name all staked out.

lol unintentional funny with the whole 'staked' thing lol.

Re: Gotcha

That's actually the artwork from a future story set in an UA verse where a series of violent inquisitions and crusades caused the world to be 'permanently' stuck in a strange sort of Midieval Dark Ages instead of evolving into the modern world of today.

William is the son of a wealthy and respected Duke; who is a first cousin to the ruling line, and Tara is his Sister; who has chosen to live the cloistered life of a Sister of Mercy; sort of a mix between a healer, a druid, and a Ranger.

Their lives take a sharp downward spiral when their Father is killed by a fellow land Baron in a failed siege. Tara is only a girl at the time and William is a baby when their Father tells her to take her brother and hide in the forest until he comes for him.

But he never does. The King's men arrive to answer the Duke's summons for help but it's too late. The Castle is sacked, the village in ruins, dead and dying people everywhere and no sign of the raiders. The Duke lives only long enough to tell them what happened and ask them to find his children and take them to his cousin for safety.

They search for the children but Tara fearing they're the soldiers that were raiding their lands remains in hiding with her baby brother. She somehow manages to survive and keeps them both alive through the winter despite being only ten years old. (Times were different then of course and children were forced to mature much faster.) Tara strays into a grove and meets an old Sister of Mercy who has left their order and travelled into seclusion in the deep woods. It is their way when one of them reaches their 50th year, to withdraw into voluntary exile in some natural place. There they will live out their lives simply as Wisewomen, healers, or undertake other pastoral pursuits and 'commune' with the Goddess until she calls them from their mortal life. The Old Sister was blind by this time and rather old and she accepts Tara's offer to care for her if she will teach her to survive in the deep woods. She agrees and helps to teach Tara what she needs to know to keep herself and William alive.

Come six springs, they're finally found by a small group of woodcutters living deep in the forest in cave, who recognize her convince Tara that the danger has passed and the raiders have left. The King has never stopped trying to find out what happened to them and there is a reward posted for their safe return to their ancestoral home; which has become annexed by the King's lands. Both to safeguard it and because he truly loved his cousin and wanted to honor his memory by preserving his home.

It is obvious who Tara is; she's a younger version of her late Mother; and the peasants rejoice at their safe return. The King is sent for and he arrives swiftly and takes custody of Tara and William, making them his wards. He appoints an older advisor from his court to be their Foster Father and regent of the lands he deeds back to the now 6 and a half year old William; who is his Father's heir. He will care for the estate until Will comes of age.

Tara is able to describe the standards of the Baron that raided their lands and the Kings orders the Laird put to death for treason against the royal family and exiles his entire bloodline.

Tara grows up and decides to forego the life of a noble and choosing instead a quiet life as one of the Nature Priestesses. William grows up and becomes a Knight of no small renown; both for his skill and the fact that he's just beautiful lol.

Then the son of the Laird the King put to death returns with an army... and he's none too pleased to hear that the children that turned his Father over to the King's justice for murder are safe at court. That is until he catches sight of.... lol.

I have the large version of the artwork minus any text that I'll post for you. It's wallpaper sized to 800x600 if memory serves =)

Gotcha! As for future problems like this coming over here... let em. I'm going to blank my profile other than my name. I put a link to my journal on my stories for people off the journal sites or they find them by word of mouth. lol I kind of LIKE being a little hard to find I think. That usually means someone was pretty serious to have spent the time to go looking for you... I appreciate that. =)

The LJ idiots have since 'apologized' but frankly I think it had more to do with the fact their stupidity made the news and they looked bad than they truly believed they handled things wrong. And it won't prevent it from happening again, so here is where my work will be staying!

I just read the posting of your move from LiveJournal. The moral majority has obviously taken over and the rest of the world has lost their minds. Have you seen the mess that Yahoo is doing? They're monitoring all your activity online after you visit their net. There is a way to throw them out from spying on you though. I still have the computer knowhow for a flea and the attention span to match when it comes to computers. I'd love to be added back to your friends list and continue to read your fabulous stories. Thanks!

Wow, I had heard that but sadly more than one site has been known to employ 'tracking' to get information on where you go online. That information is then sold to the horrible people that flood our inboxes with SPAM or are sold to other 'private parties' if we fit their 'profile' for a potential customer. It's a horrible business!

You're all tucked in safe and sound. I'll be putting up a story hopefully by the weekend so good timing =). I'd hoped to have it up already but with all this LJ stupidity going on it's slowing me down. It's also part of why I felt this move was a good thing.

All I ask is a quiet journal and a healthy muse to fill er by lol.

Hugs,
